Regulatory Support

TRC specializes in regulatory support, including regulatory development and interpretation, as well as license application review. The goal is regulatory control to ensure that necessary and sufficient nuclear requirements are identified and met including:

  • Determining the optimum scope and conditions for nuclear power (electricity, water purification, medicine, research)
  • Establishing rules, regulations, standards and practical guidelines on nuclear safety
  • Establishing the process to evaluate the safety of nuclear facilities and activities to meet the regulations
  • Establishing the schedule to inspect, monitor, and regulate nuclear facilities
  • Ensuring that required documentation provides the detail of what has been done to meet the applicable regulations and requirements
  • Granting licenses that provide the authority to operate nuclear facilities
We operate in accordance with the IAEA Safety Guidance for Nuclear Power Plant Design and all international agreements on nuclear power.
